Cristina Lucas is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist born in Jaén, Spain, in 1973. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1998 and earned a master’s degree from the University of California, Irvine, in 2000.

Her practice spans video, photography, performance, installation, drawing, and painting. Through a critical approach that often incorporates humour, she examines structures of power, gender inequality, and the political and economic forces that shape society. Her work challenges established cultural symbols and encourages viewers to reconsider familiar interpretations of history.

Lucas has exhibited internationally at institutions including the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Spain, the Carrillo Gil Museum in Mexico, and the Kunstraum Innsbruck in Austria. She received Spain’s Ojo Crítico Award for Visual Arts in 2009 and the Women in Visual Arts Award in 2014.
